ARCHAEOLOGY
Proyecto Arqueologico del Interior de Casma (PAIC-CHAP); 2014-present
In July, 2014, I began field research for a new archaeological project of my design. Called Proyecto Arqueologico del Interior de Casma - Casma Hinterland Archaeological Project, this project examines smaller sites around El Purgatorio in order to understand how social life changed during the development, occupation, and abandonment of that prehispanic city. This project also analyzes the ways in which smaller communities in the hinterlands contributed, complicated, and contested urbanization associated with El Purgatorio and the Casma Polity (or State), for which El Purgatorio was the capital.
The 2014 Field Season concluded in mid-August and its results will be presented as soon as possible. Please visit the PAIC-CHAP website, blog (PAIC-CHAP.blogspot.com), or my blog Up To Date for more frequent updates.

El Purgatorio - Sector B South; 2007-2010
Sector B South, a commoner residential district at El Purgatorio, was the site for my doctoral dissertation research. I examined architecture, household assemblages, and urban planning to ascertain the configurations of social identities, community processes, and authoritative places/spaces in the commoner neighborhood.
